정광수교수(전자통신공학과), 가헌학술상 수상

본교 정광수 교수(전자통신공학과)가 2012년 11월 23일 정보？컴퓨터 분야의 국내 최대 학회인 한국정보과학회 39회 정기총회 및 추계학술발표회에서 14회 가헌학술상을 수상한다.

본 상은 ㈜신도리코 우석형 회장의 후원으로 한국정보과학회가 1999년부터 정보과학 분야에서 학술적으로 탁월한 업적을 이루고 학문적 발전에 기여한 교수를 매년 한 사람씩 선정하는 상이다.

정교수는 지난 20년 동안 컴퓨터통신 기술 분야에서 400편이 넘는 국내외 논문과 특허를 발표하였으며, 최근 IPTV 및 스마트TV 등 방송통신융합 기술 분야에서도 활발한 연구 활동을 전개하고 있다. 특히 △인터넷프로토콜 △멀티미디어통신 △유무선 스트리밍기술 등의 분야에서 탁월한 연구 성과를 인정받아 올해 가헌학술상을 수상하게 됐다는 것이 한국정보과학회 측 설명이다.

한편, 한국정보과학회는 지난 1973년에 설립된 컴퓨터공학 분야 전문가 단체로 2012년 현재 일반회원 2만4천여명, 특별회원 143개 기관, 단체 회원 264개 기관이 등록되어 있다. 2002년 학술진흥재단의 학회 간행 논문지 평가에서 최상위 등급으로 평가 등재된 정보과학회 논문지를 포함한 정기간행물을 연 70회 간행하며, 정기 및 부정기 학술행사를 연간 50여 회 개최하는 국내 최대의 정보과학분야 학회이다.

Professor Jung Kwang-soo receives the Gaheon Academic Award

Professor Jung Kwang-soo  of the Dept. of Electronics and Communication Engineering was picked as the recipient of the 14th Gaheon Academic Award. The Award will be conferred on the 23rd of November at the 39th Regular General Meeting/Autumn Academic Conference of the Korean Institute of Information Scientists and Engineers(KIISE).

Gaheon Academic Award, supported by SINDOH Co., Ltd., is an annual award since 1999 and is given to a professor who showed the most outstanding academic performance in the field of Information Science

Prof. Jung has announced more than 400 theses and patents in the last 20 years. He also has been actively participating to Communication Convergence Technology(IPTV, Smart TV, etc.) recently. It is generally admitted that his superior research performance in Internet Protocol, Multimedia Communication, and Wired/Wireless Streaming was the key factor in winning the prestigious award.
