Professor Lee Hyunho's Team Discovered the Driving Mechanism of the Quantum Dot Light-Emitting Diode

- Investigation of the mechanism of light-emitting recombination of a quantum dot light-emitting diode using a double quantum dot light-emitting layer -

- Precise analysis of electron motion and attenuation in drive devices by measuring transient electroluminescence -

- Paper (IF:15.2) published in Wiley Publishing’s internationally renowned journal "Small" -

 

Professor Lee Hyunho's research team (Department of Electronic Engineering) of Kwangwoon University and Professor Kwak Jeonghoon's research team (Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering) of Seoul National University proposed a double-stacked unique quantum dot light emitting diode structure. They also reported the light emission driving mechanism according to charge injection.

 

Quantum dot light-emitting diodes that use quantum dots are called next-generation display devices. They are being actively studied due to their high color purity and low process cost.

 

Still, reduction in luminous efficiency and shortening of the service life due to electron injection are essential factors to be solved for the successful commercialization of quantum dot light-emitting diodes. To this end, it is important to understand the fundamental control of quantum dot light-emitting diodes and determine the detailed charge transfer mechanism needed to improve the efficiency and device lifetime.

 

This research was conducted with support from the National Research Foundation of Korea Basic Research (NRF-2020R1F1A1074263) and University Focused Research Institute (2018R1A6A1A03025242). The research results were published in Small, IF:15.2, published by WILEY, the world's leading journal specializing in materials and devices.
