Hyo-Jeong Lee, Professor in Division of Business Administration, Won Best Paper Award from the Korean Securities Association
The study on the “Price Movements around Short Covering Trades" by Professor Hyo-Jeong Lee from the Division of Business Administration (co-authored with Hyuk Choi, Honorary Professor in Seoul National University) was selected as the best research paper in the field of investment theory by the Korean Securities Association in 2021. The paper is the first study to analyze the effect of short-covering trades in the Korean stock market, and the special value of it lies in the fact that it identifies the nature of short-covering trades and the conditions for the occurrence of a short squeeze.
Professor Hyo-Jeong Lee has been conducting research on the
behavior of short-sellers and the effect of short covering on market
efficiency. Professor Lee was also awarded the “Excellent Paper Award” by the
Korean Finance Association and the “New Researcher Award” by the Maekyung
Business for her research on the short covering in the past years.
