The study on the “Price Movements around Short Covering Trades" by Professor Hyo-Jeong Lee from the Division of Business Administration (co-authored with Hyuk Choi, Honorary Professor in Seoul National University) was selected as the best research paper in the field of investment theory by the Korean Securities Association in 2021. The paper is the first study to analyze the effect of short-covering trades in the Korean stock market, and the special value of it lies in the fact that it identifies the nature of short-covering trades and the conditions for the occurrence of a short squeeze.

Professor Hyo-Jeong Lee has been conducting research on the behavior of short-sellers and the effect of short covering on market efficiency. Professor Lee was also awarded the “Excellent Paper Award” by the Korean Finance Association and the “New Researcher Award” by the Maekyung Business for her research on the short covering in the past years.

The Korea Securities Association is the most prestigious academic society in the field of Accounting and Finance with a long history since its foundation in 1976. The Association has been issuing the international journal, AJFS, which has the status of SSCI, and the domestic journal, KJFS, which has the KCI status. The awards ceremony was held at the regular general meeting of the Korean Securities Association on February 25th, at The Forum on the third floor of Two IFC Building, Yeouido.
