Professor Ko Myung-Cheol’s ‘The Gravity of Literature’ Was Selected as a Book for the Literature Sharing Book Distribution Project

The book "Gravity of Literature (Book Publishing B, 2021)" by Professor Ko Myung-chul (Department of Korean Language and Literature), a literary critic of the school, was selected as the book for the second literature sharing book distribution project in 2021.

The Literature Sharing Book Distribution Project is hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and organized by the Korea Culture and Arts Commission to select and distribute outstanding literary books published in Korea, thereby leading to the promotion of the literary publishing market and the revitalization of creative conditions, and enhancing the people's literary enjoyment, experience, opportunities, and quality of life through the spread of links to various literature revitalization programs.

Professor Ko Myung-chul's "Gravity of Literature" was selected for its excellent reviews in terms of excellence in works, contribution to literary development, and ripple effects and expectations on readers as a review book.

The title, "Gravity," is the gravity of the natural law of courtesy that allows man to live on the ground. The author says, "Humans cannot escape from gravity, and living with gravity means having a perception of reality that coexists and co-exists with humans and other creatures." This book is a collection of criticisms that are based on the specific works that testify to the reality of coexistence and coexistence broken, and the narratives of defeat and disillusionment in history.

The weight of literature is based on the subtitle "The Weight of Criticism Facing History and Reality." If the experience of defeat in our history and the miserable life of the present are revealed as literary truth, criticism will have the gravity of reaching them completely. The author said, "If you draw unfamiliar theories and concepts too hard to criticize the work, the details of the criticism are evaporated as it goes against the intact reality of the work. The criticism that atomizes the concreteness of our life and reality is the result of losing vitality and the gravity of criticism." The subtitle "The Criticism" is ironic and provocative. If it has gravity, it should fall down.
