Kwangwoon University has been selected as a participating institution for the "Lifelong Education System Support Project (LiFE 2.0)" organized by the Ministry of Education and the National Institute for Lifelong Education.

The Lifelong Education System Support Project is a government-led program that supports universities in providing learning environments for adult learners. Its goal is to offer opportunities for adult learners to study at universities at any desired time.

With this selection, Kwangwoon University plans to integrate the lifelong education system through the 'K-VISION 2030' university development plan. It aims to embody the vision of becoming a "Practical University for Lifelong Education in the Era of Super-Convergence, Adult-Friendly" by considering the educational demand of adults in the northeastern districts (Nowon, Dobong, Gangbuk, Seongbuk), as well as the technological requirements of the local community and industries. The university intends to develop and support adult learner-friendly educational programs that cater to these needs. Starting from 2024, the university plans to enhance the capabilities of adult learners through flexible adjustments in the undergraduate programs, including the establishment of new departments such as Finance and Real Estate Law (Humanities and Social Sciences), Game Contents (Natural Sciences), Smart Electrical and Electronic Engineering (Engineering), and Sports Counseling and Rehabilitation (Arts and Physical Education).

In the second cycle of the project in 2023, a total of 50 schools were selected, including 30 general universities and 20 vocational colleges. Kwangwoon University was chosen as a Type 1 (establishment type) metropolitan university and will receive 1 billion KRW in project funding.
