Kwangwoon University held the ‘Kwangwoon AI/SW Super Convergence Innovation Symposium’ in November 2022 under the theme of “Connecting research, development & education with industry to realize super gap technology.” This event was hosted by Kwangwoon University and organized by Kwangwoon University AI Convergence Research Center, Graduate School, and SW Centered University Project Group.

 

Chosun Young, Chairman of Kwangwoon Academy; Kim Jong-heon, President of Kwangwoon University; Koh Yongjin, Member of the National Assembly; Jeon Sungbae, Director of Institute of Information & Communications Technology Planning & Evaluation (IITP), Korea's best experts in AI/SW field, and all members of Kwangwoon University attended this event.

 

Chairman Chosun Young and President Jongheon Kim said, “Kwangwoon University will continue to strive to lead the AI/SW hyper-convergence technology that will lead the digital innovation that has just begun, and become the center of technological and social changes in the near future.", “Starting from this year, AI and SW-based super-convergence innovation has been set as the development direction of the university, and we are making every effort to secure world-class education and research capabilities.”

 

Koh Yongjin, a member of the National Assembly, said, “This event, where experts from each field at the forefront of software convergence and innovative technology gathered at Kwangwoon University, is more meaningful. I hope that it will become the cradle of software convergence and innovative technology.”

 

Jeon Sungbae, head of the Information and Communication Planning and Evaluation Institute, said, "The symposium will be a place to explore ways and measures to utilize AI and SW technologies in various fields such as education, defense, manufacturing, and medical care in the era of digital transformation."

 

Ig-Jae Kim, director of KIST AI and Robotics Research Institute; Seunghwan Kim, managing director of LG AI Research; Hyukjoon Lee, head of center of Kwangwoon University AI Convergence Research Center; Kim Sang Hee, head of center of Agency for Defense Development, National Defense Artificial Intelligence Technology Center; Byeonghun Song, head of center of Korea Electronics Technology Institute Smart Manufacturing Innovation Center; Jonghee Han, professional at Samsung Research Sensor Lab; Professor Shim Dong-gyu, Kwangwoon University Human Brain Neurocomputing Platform Research Center attended the invited lecture. Opinions were exchanged on various industry-academia cooperation researches through invited lecture and poster sessions of 19 AI/SW research labs prepared in the Saebit Hall lobby.

The symposium served as a venue for Kwangwoon University's vision to move forward as a leader in AI/SW hyper convergence technology in the future. In addition, it was an opportunity to cultivate unique AI convergence professionals of Kwangwoon University by sharing in-depth opinions and ideas with top experts in the AI and SW fields in Korea. In the future, through symposium, it is expected that a venue for active discussions on AI and SW fields will be held to foster talented people in AI and SW fields led by Kwangwoon University.
