Kwangwoon University Held a Semiconductor Industry-Academia-Research Symposium

- Symposium under the theme of "Kwangwoon University, a leader in semiconductor industry-academic cooperation in Korea" hosted by Kwangwoon University's Semiconductor Major Track Project Group-

Kwangwoon University held a Kwangwoon Semiconductor Industry-University-Research Symposium under the theme of “Kwangwoon University, a leader in semiconductor industry-academic cooperation in Korea” on November 3rd in the Saebitgwan auditorium. This event was hosted by Kwangwoon University and supervised by the Kwangwoon University Semiconductor Major Track Project Team. Chosun Young, Chairman of Kwangwoon Academy, Kim Jong-heon, President of Kwangwoon University, Yoo Woong-hwan, CEO of Korea Venture Investment, Lee Yong-pil, director of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, and key figures from semiconductor companies, as well as professors and students in the semiconductor field of Kwangwoon University, attended this event. 

 

Chairman Cho Seon-young and President Kim Jong-heon said, “In the recent crisis of the semiconductor industry in Korea, it is very important to prepare new semiconductors experts. Kwangwoon University, which has faculty and students working with semiconductors in various fields, is the best school for that.”

 

Director Lee Yong-pil said, “The national semiconductor policy, the current state of the semiconductor industry, and preparing professionals are very important. We hope that this symposium will serve as an opportunity to advance semiconductor research.”

 

In his keynote speech on ‘Competitive Strategy in the Era of Science and Technology Hegemony’, CEO Woong-Hwan Yoo emphasized the importance of strengthening the competitiveness of the semiconductor industry to overcome the reality of Korea in the global semiconductor hegemony.

 

In addition, invited lecturers General Manager Kim Tae-ho (ETRI), Vice Chairman Lee Jong-su (M2S), CEO Jong-min Lee (ASICLAND), and Vice Chairman Shin Hyun-cheol (Semiconductor Engineering Society) introduced more than 15 promising semiconductor companies in Korea a shared their opinions on industry-university cooperation.

The Kwangwoon Semiconductor Industry-University-Research Symposium is expected to grow into a central point for preparing new semiconductor professionals based on corporate demand in the future. Every year, Kwangwoon University discovers various models that companies and schools can cooperate with. It is expected to grow as a hub that supplies semiconductor professionals needed for businesses and provides students with employment opportunities.
