Professor Shim Junseop of the Department of Electronic Convergence Engineering Developed an Artificial Intelligence Biochip Control System

A research team led by Professor Shim Junseop (Department of Electronic Convergence Engineering) of Kwangwoon University has developed a smartphone-based portable biochip control system that precisely inspects diseases using artificial intelligence technology. With this system, anyone can quickly and precisely examine an individual's health at home using a small amount of saliva, nasal discharge, or blood. The research was selected as a cover paper for Analytical Chemistry, a global SCI journal in analytical chemistry.

This research was carried out with the support of the National Research Foundation of Korea Research Foundation and Kwangwoon University intramural research funds. The study results were published as a cover paper in the Journal of Analytical Chemistry (JCR Q1 Ranking, Impact Factor: 6.986) published by ACS (American Chemical Society). In addition, a patent for the developed AI biochip control system application has been filed.
