교육과학기술부 선정 선도연구센터(ERC)인 우리대학의 ‘홀로디지로그 휴먼미디어 연구센터(센터장 김은수 교수, 전자공학과)’는 지난 6월 25일부터 28일까지 4일간 서울 팔레스 호텔에서 차세대 홀로그램 3D 미디어 기술의 최근 연구개발 동향과 향후 발전전망이란 주제로 ‘3D/광나노 소자 국제학술대회 (Collaborative Conference on 3D and Materials Research 2012: CC3DMR 2012)’를 개최했다.

이번 학술행사에서는 217편의 초청논문이 4개의 세션으로 나뉘어 오전 8시 30분부터 오후 5시까지 4일간 발표가 진행됐으며, 첫날 저녁에는 참가자를 위한 리셉션 행사가, 27일 저녁에는 개회식과 초청만찬 행사가 열렸다. 150여명이 참석한 가운데 열린 개회식 행사에서는 김은수 대회위원장의 환영사에 이어 김기영 총장과 이은규 한국연구재단 기초연구 본부장이 참석해 축사를 했다.

특히, 이번 국제학술대회에는 한국을 비롯하여 미국, 영국, 프랑스, 독일, 러시아, 스페인, 그리스, 캐나다, 호주, 터키, 이태리, 네덜란드, 헝가리, 브라질, 이스라엘, 덴마크, 뉴질런드, 일본, 중국, 싱가폴, 홍콩, 대만 등 전 세계 23개국에서 217명의 홀로그램 3D 미디어 및 광나노 소자관련 세계 최고의 권위자들이 모여 참가국 수나 초청논문 편수에서 국내 최대 규모의 국제행사로 개최됐다.

주요 초청발표자로는 미국 MIT의 바바스타티스(Barbastathis) 교수, 미국 스텐포드 대학의 헤젤링크(Hessellink) 교수, 스페인 마드리드 대학의 오르테갈(Ortegal) 교수, 러시아 사라토브 대학의 페트로브(Petrov) 교수, 헝가리 과학원의 갈람보스(Galambos) 박사, 일본 지바대학의 시모바다(Shimobada) 교수, 프랑스의 Vitec 멀티미디어 연구소의 도쏘(Dosso) 박사, 이태리 로마대학의 사바토(Sabato) 교수, 일본 우쯔노미아 대학의 야타가이(Yatagai) 교수, 브라질 살레시안(Salesian) 대학의 카에타노(Caetano) 교수 등이 참석했다.

이번, 국제학술대회 대회위원장인 홀로디지로그 연구센터의 김은수 센터장은 “최근, 궁극적인 미래 영상기술인 홀로그램 3D 미디어 기술에 대한 각국의 핵심 원천기술 확보 및 산업화 노력이 가속화되고 국제표준화가 공론화되고 있다”며 “이번 국제학술대회를 통해 차세대 홀로그램 3D 미디어 기술 연구의 국제적인 현주소를 이해하고 향후 우리가 나가야 할 연구개발 방향 및 전략을 수립하는데 많은 도움이 됐다”라고 밝혔다.

교육과학기술부가 선도연구센터(ERC)로 선정, 지원하고 있는 우리대학의 ‘홀로디지로그 휴먼미디어 연구센터’는 2011년부터 매년 CC3DMR 국제학술대회를 개최함으로써, 국가적 미래 전략기술인 차세대 홀로그램 3D 미디어기술에 대한 국내외 연구개발 현황과 향후 발전전망을 조망하고 있으며, 내년도 행사는 제주도 라마다 호텔에서 개최될 예정이다.


KWU’s Holodigilog Human Media Research Center, The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology’s designated Engineering Research Center(ERC), successfully hosted the “Collaborative Conference on 3D and Materials Research 2012: CC3DMR 2012” at the Palace Hotel Seoul from June 25^th to 28^th. The main focus of the conference was to cope with the recent trend in next-generation 3D media technology and its future prospect.

A total of 217 dissertations were divided into 4 sessions and presented from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. during the four-day academic event. A reception for the guests was held on the first day and an opening ceremony and dinner party in the evening of June 27^th. At the opening ceremony, where more than 150 guests attended, Kim Eun-su, the chairman of the conference delivered welcoming speech to the audience, followed by congratulatory addresses by KWU’s president Kim Ki-young and Lee Eun-kyu, the director of the headquarters of National Research Foundation of Korea.

Especially, the international academic event was all the more meaningful in that it received 217 prominent experts in the field of Hologram 3D media and Nano-optical devices from 23 countries, including South Korea, the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Russia, Spain, Greece, Canada, Australia, Turkey, Italy, the Netherlands, Hungary, Brazil, Israel, Denmark, New Zealand, Japan, China, Singapore, Hong Kong and Taiwan. The various nationalities of the attendees made the conference eligible to be called the biggest international event in the Korea, in terms of the number of the countries attended and the large volume of dissertations.

Director Kim Eun-su, who took the post of chairman of this year’s international conference said, “There has been accelerated trends among the countries to secure and commercialize core[original] technologies in hologram 3d media, the ultimate imaging technology of the future: the importance of setting an international standard has come into the spotlight.”, and added, “through this year’s conference, we have come to understand the current status of the researches on next-generation hologram 3D media technologies and establish our development strategies for the future.”

KWU’s Holodigilog Human Media Research Center is an ERC designated and supported by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology. The center holds the CC3DMR annually since 2011, with the purpose of reviewing the previous achievements in the field of hologram 3D media technology and putting out the collective outlook for the future. The next year’s conference will be held at Ramada Jeju Hotel.
