  • Welcoming Remark ;

    Good morning, Ladies and Gentlemen,

    My name is Jong-heon Kim and I am the president of Kwangwoon University.

    I sincerely welcome all of you who have visited Kwangwoon University to participate in the 4th International Workshop on Plasma Agriculture (IWOPA4) in Seoul Korea.

    First of all, I would like to shortly introduce Kwangwoon University.

    Kwangwoon University was found in 1934 by Dr. Kwangwoon Cho, who foresaw the necessity of wireless communication and electronic engineering education as the core of the future of Korea. Our university is the first university in Korea to educate the field of electronic engeneering. Therefore, it is speccialized in the field of ICT and cosisits of the largest number of faculty and students in this field in Korea.

    Since it's foundation, Kwangwoon's talented graduates have actively engaged in various fields of society, not to mention the electronic industry. As a result, the alumni of Kwangwoon University are recognized for their outstanding talents at home and abroad. I am also very proud to have graduated from the Department of Electronic Communication Engineering at Kwangwoon University.

    As an engineer myself, I am also very interested to hear that exellent topics are being discussed at this workshop.

    As you are well aware, IWOPA was launched at Drexel University in Philadelphia in 2016 to provide an open community for discussion of the present and future achievements of science and technology in various fields of plasma agriculture.

    The second workshop was held in Takayama, Japan in 2018, and the third workshop was held in 2021 at INP in Greifswald, Germany.

    I strongly expect that the 4th IWOPA will be very helpful for a fundamental understanding of the latest technologies and challenges in agriculture, life sciences and the environment through smart thinking, clinical acquisition and new interdisciplinary collaborations.

    Lastly, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to IWOPA (International Workshop of Plasma Agriculture) and Kwangwoon University's Lowest Life Science Research Center local organizing committee for hosting a very meaningful workshop at Kwangwoon University.

    Also, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the speakers of this workshop. In particular, Welcome and thanks to Professor Kyungsoon Park, Dr. Henry Burst and Professor Jurgen Kolb.

    I hope that this workshop can produce abundant results and I wish the continued development of the IWOPA and the best of luck and prosperity to all of you.

    Thank you very much.

    2023. 06. 19.

    Jong Heon Kim,

    President of Kwangwoon University
