KWU 2022 Regular Admissions Competition Ratio 6.55 to 1, Increased by 28.9% Than Previous Year

Kwangwoon University announced that 4,946 students applied for 712 seats and showed an average competition ratio of 6.95 to 1 as a result of the application deadline for regular admission for freshmen in the 2022 school year. This is the result of a sharp 28.9% increase in the number of applicants compared to the previous year. Last year, a total of 3,833 people applied for the regular admission, with an average competition ratio of 5.4 to 1.

By type, 1,500 applicants applied to the 248 seats of ‘A’ group for general student screening, showing a competition ratio of 6.05 to 1. In the ‘B’ group, 577 applicants applied for 95 seats, and the competition ratio was 6.07 to 1 whereas in the case of ‘C’ group, 2,533 applicants applied for 340 seats, showing a competition ratio of 7.45 to 1.

The department of convergence sports science ‘C’ group recorded the highest competition ratio of 13.29 to 1 followed by department of architectural engineering ‘C’ group with 10.83 to 1 competition ratio, department of chemistry ‘C’ group with 9.2 to 1 and department of information convergence ‘C’ group with 8.44 to 1 competition ratio.

Lee Hye-young, head of admissions said, “It seems that the number of regular admissions, including the number of students carried over from early admission has increased due to increased difficulty of ‘suneung’ and students willing to apply despite their scores.”
