Kwangwoon MOOC Center was selected as one of the new courses in the “2020 Korean Massive Online Open Course (K-MOOC) Leading University and New Course Selection Results” announced by the Ministry of Education. Through this, Kwangwoon University’s excellent lectures will be open to the general public.

K-MOOC (Korean Massive Open Online Course) service opened in October 2015, and as of the end of May 2020, there were 14.52 million visits, 1.428 million course registrations and 0.625 million members. To prevent the spread of COVID-19 and by activating remote online classes, the interest of universities and learners is significantly increasing.

The selection of this open course was conducted by the evaluation committee composed of MOOC experts and experts in each academic field. They comprehensively evaluated the institution’s operational capabilities and course excellence, and the composition of K-MOOC was further highlighted by the selection of excellent courses from various universities.

This year’s newly selected course offered by Kwangwoon University is Professor Kim In-ho’s “Korean History of the Present and the Past”. This course is distinguished by providing the knowledge of existing experts and authentic commentary, and the opportunities for the learners’ cultural exploration of the theory and practice. The newly selected course will be available free of charge from the website (http://www.kmooc.co.kr) from the second half of the year after preparation.

All the KMOOC courses of leading universities, including two lectures produced by Kwangwoon University, are available on the official website of KMOOC (www.kmooc.kr)
