Department of Architecture (5-year program)

As a comprehensive art whose boundary encompasses humanity and social/natural sciences, architecture is playing a leading role, particularly, in creating (1) a living space appropriate to the needs of a rapidly changing modern society and (2) a future-oriented city space by employing state-of-art technology. In response to the societal needs of informatization and sophistication of the 21st century, the department is implementing a 5-year training program aimed at producing competent professional architects in accordance with the international mutual recognition system.
Introduction

Architecture program was approved in July 1988, and it was first started with fifty students in 1989. It became Architecture Department in 2001 with Architecture Design and Architecture Engineering majors. In 2003, the Department was reorganized into five-year Architecture and four-year Architecture Engineering divisions.

As a comprehensive art form that encompasses liberal arts, social and natural science, the five-year architecture program is an academic discipline that plays leading role in creating living space for fast-changing modern society, and building future-oriented and harmonized urban space using state-of-the-art equipment. This program offers following courses that meet international accreditation standards. The courses are Architecture Planning & Design, Complex & Urban Planning, Interior Architecture Design, Korean Architecture Theory, Western Architecture Theory, Modern Architecture Theory, and Digital Design Techniques.

Educational Objectives

The educational goal of Department is producing internationally competitive and creative architects who can meet 21st century's information and technological demands by offering internationally accredited five-year education program. The Department is making various efforts in education, research, and practical fields to achieve its educational goal.
